Although Shalanda does a lot of work behind the scenes with teaching, directing theater and aspects of playwriting, there is something about performing on stage and screen that awakens the soul, causes you to dig deep, be vulnerable, present, in the moment. Some of her cherished roles include Dorothy in The Wiz, Joanne/Charlene/Dreamgirls, Molly/MouseTrap, The Woman In Yellow/For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf. Kroger commercial and Faith in the the self-titled short film Faith.

Shalanda is the founder of World Stage Theatre, a multi-cultural, intergenerational arts organization with a focus on history,  literature, music, traditional and original works providing exploration, experience, and exposure to underserved youth interested in the performing arts while providing culturally relevant, live performances and arts education for the community.
